If everyone had believed those people who predicted that the human body would disintegrate if exposed to more than 35 km/h (22 mph), none would have ever boarded a train…— unknown

The ‘be.passive’ project

be.passive’ is a magazine dedicated exclusively to “passive” and “low energy” building, that presents also a global, attractive and lively vision of its applications.

be.passive’ is intended for architects, the public authorities (municipalities, regions, provinces, federal authorities, language communities, building societies, regional development agencies), engineers companies, manufacturers of materials, actors in the real estate sector and sympathisers.

be.passive’ is a publication of the two Belgian passive platforms: the non-profit associations pmp asbl and php vzw.

The magazine is published in French and in Dutch.

Passive building in Belgium : in 5 years, the figures have gone from 13 to 799 dwellings, 1 to 30 tertiary projects, of regional grants and a tax deduction.

What once was an epiphenomenon is becoming the new standard of tomorrow.

It was time to centralize the information, actions, initiatives etc. relating to the passive standard in one medium.

There are periodicals devoted to architecture, sustainable development, etc. Some feature columns and opinion pages on passive and low energy building from time to time.

But there is no medium at this time dedicated exclusively to “passive” and “low energy” building, which provides a global, attractive and lively vision of its applications.

be.passive’ is intended to fill this gap.

Architecture works usually deal with buildings you will never have an opportunity to see or with architects who have become inaccessible stars. They are often filled with incomprehensible philosophical discourse. ‘be.passive’ is intended for everyone by featuring local heroes.

The periodical would also appeal to a reader without technical or architectural training.

It will feature articles on lifestyle in these extremely efficient architectural creations.

be.passive’ is supported by Belgian SPF environnement.
